14 march 02 | As spring draws near (not that we have had much of a winter) I feel it's time to get the brushes out and paint | Here's one of those places that I won't tell you how to get to but would like you all to see | And a note to Marcus, it was this spot, not the cliff, that I referred to |
storytelling sites
website the spoon The Spoon | A Storyteller's website | This site announces that it is no longer active; that it "retired" on 1 March 2000 | Meaning, what? NO new entries? | Be that as it may | The entries (and the entrees ~ look around) on the site still seem fresh, and the design of the site is refreshing | The still active links alone are worth the visit |
american folk American Folk Directory | Another Storyteller's website | Real stories by real people | I've spent quite a bit of time here scanning and perusing | These are the people you don't hear about on E! and I've a strong suspicion that, ultimately, it's folks like these featuyred here who make up the actual threads of history, not the flash/pan variety found in celeb rags | So throw away those gossip magazines and find out about regular folks | Their stories are every bit as eccentric, and a whole lot more real |
ploughshares efforts
veterans for peace Veterans for Peace | A little reality on the war front, folks | While Dubya, Inc. and his pals are ratcheting up the war profits machine, it's valuable not to lose sight of the fact that some folks find no romance in long-distance bombings | Veteran's for Peace, a group that's been around since 1985, and its members maintain that "...Our collective experience tells us wars are easy to start and hard to stop and that those hurt are often the innocent. Thus, other means of problem solving are necessary."
VFP also maintains an extensive (but not overwhelming) list of useful links to other groups and organizations interested in solving global problems, rather than exacerbating them | Groups like this could use our support |
site maintenance |
Over the next couple of months, I shall be working on a lot of old connix pages and bringing them up to date | There shall also be a major overhaul of the internal directory structure, though you, thankfully, will not have to deal with that | Using this site's index model, I'll be adding a site map | Bear with me on this, what's now uplaoded I took from the old connix site and it has not yet been updated, but you'll be able to see progress as its made | Otherwise, hope you'll find the changes workable |
internet access tools | Check out my 10 march 2002 entry for some useful tools to help make better use of Iternet resources |
MOST RECENT ESSAY: ECONOMIC TREASON: Do travesties like ENRON make your blood boil? There's a new discussion group on the Yahoo Groups website. It's still new, so the discussion has just begun. Participants are welcome. Stop by, sign up, and add your POV.
